Picking the right entertainment for your event
When it comes to picking the right entertainment for your event, you need to think about a number of different things. With Christmas party planning in full gear, we hope that some of these ideas might be useful if you’ve left it late in booking your entertainment this year!
When it comes to booking entertainment for an event you first need to think about budget. Deciding on a budget isn’t the most exciting task but it definitely pays to make sure you know how much you would like to spend and to remember not to go over that figure! This will help in narrowing down the acts that you can afford and ensure that you don’t become enamoured with an act that will be unavailable to you. It’s best to just block out the likes of Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé for a private party right now because unfortunately they are out of your budget (unless you’re reading this from a palace and even then we aren’t sure)!
The next thing you have to consider at your event is the mood you’re wanting. Is it a drinks reception or is it an opportunity for everybody to let down their hair? If the former, you might prefer some light background jazz. If it’s the latter, then a DJ or rockin’ function band might be the best entertainment for your event. And don’t forget performers from the worlds of dance, circus and magic either; take in your venue and try and imagine what will work best for your guests. Remember to take the average age into account as preferences will vary!
Once you’ve settled on the mood, now it’s time to make the best use of the space available. It’s no use having a function band down one end of a gargantuan hall if many guests will cluster elsewhere. Why not book some strolling entertainment like a magician, silhouette artist or stilt walker to ensure that everybody enjoys some entertainment? Unsure what to do with the alcove as guests enter? Meet and greet performers may be perfect or maybe some strolling magicians or acrobats can walk guests inside? There are so many possibilities!
We are barely scratching the surface of what to think about when booking entertainment but we hope this short blog has given you pause for thought when planning your event.
