I am an Events Manager for the Soil Association, the UK’s leading membership charity campaigning for healthy, humane and sustainable food, farming and land use. Delivering B2B and consumer events for our organic Certification business and Food for Life teams, ranging from conferences, launch events, exhibitions and trade shows to awards ceremonies and our presence at the occasional festival! My focus is always on delivering slick and professional events as sustainably as possible, obsessing about every detail and working with suppliers to source more environmentally sound ways and means of staging a great event.
Previous to the Soil Association, I worked as Events Manager for Low Carbon South West, being involved during the exciting times of Bristol as European Green Capital, and running a programme of events for LCSW members as well as Go Green – a scheme to help businesses across Bristol and the South West to become more sustainable and improve their green credentials.
Prior to this, I spent 15 years in the world of publishing, producing beautiful books and pop-up maps!
A sustainable approach to events: theory and practice
Sustainability should be part of everything we do as event managers, but at times it’s hard to know where to start and how we can really have an impact. This session will outline a five-step methodology for organising sustainable events and provide industry insight and examples of sustainable event management in practice.
